Predictive mobile analytics is a timing problem wearing a statistics coat.
On phones, the user is a cloud of identifiers, the clock is unreliable, and the decision window is often a push that must go out tonight. This page is how Identity Flowcore frames the work.
A working definition
We use “predictive mobile analytics” for any practice that estimates a future state of a person-or-device on an app — open, pay, churn, default, complain — and then changes an operational action. If nothing in CRM, messaging, or risk changes, you did reporting, not prediction.
That definition excludes a lot of vendor slides. It includes a simple hazard on session gaps if lifecycle actually uses the score.
Why mobile is a different animal
Web analytics often enjoys a reasonably stable cookie and a server clock. Mobile analytics inherits ATT prompts, OEM battery killers, shared family devices, store-specific install referrers, and SDKs that batch events hours later. Identity is not a column; it is a hypothesis you have to keep rewriting.
Thailand adds texture: LINE as a parallel channel, PromptPay as a payment identity, and festival calendars that break any model trained on “average Tuesdays.” Ignoring those is how you get a globally fashionable notebook that fails on Sukhumvit.
The three artefacts we insist on
Identity ledger. A one-page map of anonymous, logged-in, and device states, plus what happens at logout and at reinstall.
Clock contract. Which timestamp is event time, which is ingest time, and which joins are forbidden because they look into the future.
Decision note. Who consumes the score, at what threshold, how often it is retrained, and what the score is not allowed to do.
Where teams usually slip
They train on converted users only, then act surprised when the score cannot see cold start. They treat uninstall as churn and miss the quieter death of session length. They ship a model into Braze without telling anyone the confidence interval.
